ABOUT

Placed In Time: Archiving Milton Keynes’ Youth Culture is led by Buckinghamshire artist Pol Bradford-Corris. His work spans photography, collage, film and text, exploring issues around trans and queer representation and the politics of the archive.

Placed In Time seeks to engage young people living in Milton Keynes with archiving, thinking about new ways to document our histories and tell our stories creatively for future generations.

Throughout 2024 Pol has worked closely with young people in the city to determine what form a new archive may take, what they might want to see included, and how it might be accessed. The project aims to give space to young people to tell their stories, in their own words, empowering them to think creatively about how they want to document their personal histories for the future. The material created has fed into a new interactive public artwork, due to go live in summer 2025.

how to get involved

Youth history, especially from young people’s perspectives, is difficult to come by and this project aims to start filling in some of these gaps. Often, stories about young people, especially marginalised young people, are not told in their own voices, whether that be in the media or traditional archives. Pol is currently gathering material from MK’s youth communities to populate the new archive. If you are under 25 and interested in submitting something for inclusion please get in touch.
